Our Distinctions

The QGSA is granting year after year a certain number of Awards of Merit to those members who greatly commit themselves in the promotion, recognition and development of our profession.

The Superintendent of the Year Award has been replaced by the Roger Baccichet Award, in honour of the very first recipient of this very much coveted title. The Roger Baccichet Award will be assigned to the superintendent whose achievement, commitment and contribution to the QGSA and his Golf Club will have been judged outstanding. Nominations can be submitted by colleagues, suppliers, course managers, etc towards the Committee which, after review, will decide or not to submit them to the Board of Directors.

Each year, some superintendents have to deal with unexpected challenges, natural and/or accidental, that often have no relation with their much diversified daily tasks. In order to honour such deserving people, the QGSA has asked its suppliers to recommend potential recipients. This new award will be named after a great superintendent who has met many challenges throughout his career, Bob Trevis.

Since 2008, new honours are also salute the great commitment of a superintendent towards his community, on both professional and personal basis. Recognition is given to all those deserving volunteers who are not afraid to get involved in their community life.

The Outstanding Recognition Award, a prestigious honour that salutes an outstanding commitment on the golf scene, will continue to be awarded.

Award winners are honoured during the SSQG Gala Night. Golf clubs and suppliers have until November 5th of every year to submit a candidacy. The application forms are available; for more details consult the different website sections relative to each of the awards.

Please feel free to submit us your suggestions. Let’s be proud of our profession!
